| To date, ICANN has only passed a resolution to add seven new top-level domains. These are .info, .biz, .aero, .name, .pro, .museum, and .coop | |
| The current estimate is for the names to be released between January and June of 2001. ICANN however has not released the exact time and date. The anticipation for the release of the new top-level domains is generating tremendous excitement among those in the Internet community. Registrations are expected to hit record numbers when the names are released for registration. It may be difficult for all but the most technologically advanced web user's to get the new names they desire. | ||

| .biz – This is a general purpose TLD that is unrestricted. The application is at www.icann.org/tlds/report/biz4.html | ||
| .info – This is a general purpose TLD that is unrestricted. The application is at www.icann.org/tlds/report/info1.html | ||
| .name – This is a general purpose TLD intended for personal use. The application is not entirely clear how they will handle new registrations. The application does state that they are securing all second-level domains, which will contain "family" names. Although 101Domain accepts applications for submission within this new TLD, we may only be able to submit third level domains. We are going to have to work with the registry to see how these are going to be processed. Please be wary of registering in this TLD. After further evaluation, 101Domain may choose to allow customers to transfer .name applications to one of the other new TLDs. The application is at www.icann.org/tlds/report/name1.html | ||
| .pro – This is a general purpose, yet restricted to professionals only. 101Domain expects that we will have to contact all customers who apply for this TLD to get additional information from you that qualifies you for this TLD. 101Domain will continue to keep up with what is necessary and we will notify you well in advance for you to be able to get this information to us so that we can submit this information for you with your application. Please read the application to see if you think that you will qualify. 101Domain is not responsible of making sure that you qualify – we leave it up to you, the customer.
